Full Confession:

The other day I saw a confession about disliking hm64 (despite the confessor never having played the game) for it’s dark theme. To me, it is actually what makes it one of my all time favorite Harvest Moon games to date. It’s more realistic because it’s not always rainbow and butterflies. And yeah, it is not impossible to like BOTH BtN/FoMT and 64 at the same time! They’re both great games and the relationship/couples and characters are just as awesome!

Pretty much what I said, but someone made a confession about it! So I can’t be the only one who thinks this way.

Marlin was my first obsessive Harvest Moon crush. Those eyebrows, that hair, how he was so grouchy and misunderstood - I would always give him some medicine or wine early in the morning (I am nothing but an enabler)! I’m in love with a fictional dying alcoholic farmer man, and I’m not afraid to admit it!

Full Confession:

I honestly don’t see what the big deal is about Harvest Moon 64! I know it’s a classic but I don’t see people all open arms about the game boy color ones! I just don’t see the appeal. It’s terribly dark from what I’ve heard. I don’t see how you can be a fan of both it and FOMT or MFOMT, the family connections are really different and so are the rival couples! Even the people are different, I liked Ann but when I read about her she seems so… mean in 64 (plus she can marry both Cliff and you! WHAT?!)  And, sad to say, I used to think CliffxAnn was cute until I read about their relationship in 64. Now I can’t stand to think of them together. I often sit down and read about Harvest Moon 64, then laugh and think: “Haha, I’ll never get you!”. I feel like MFOMT and AnWL are all I really need (although I also have AP, GB, and MM) to be a true fan and I’m satisfied with them. :)

This is really strange for me because I love HM 64 along with M/FoMT and A/nWL. Perhaps it’s the nostalgia of it for some people. For me HM64 was the first Harvest Moon game I’d played and to this day it’ll always be my favorite.
I think you need an open mind if you’re going from the 64 version to Mineral Town (or vice versa). Sure the characters have different relations and personalities, but once you get past that you can appreciate both games for what they are.
As for HM 64 being “darker” I’ll have to say, yeah, it is a little. But that’s because HM 64 is more realistic in my opinion. It’s not all rainbows and butterflies.

In HM64 I really wish that your baby’s costume depended on which girl you married. Like, Karen would be such a popular girl because of her pikachu baby.

I’m angry that I can’t have a my kid in a chicken costume. That would make Elli all the more a perfect wife.

I was browsing through Greenlight on Steam a few weeks ago, and I was so fucking excited when I saw this game. It’s called Stardew Valley, a PC (and multiplayer!!) combination of Harvest Moon, Rune Factory, and Terraria.
It looks absolutely awesome, and it’s getting a lot of hype right now; I’ve honestly been obsessing about this game. If you’re a Harvest Moon fan you should definitely go support it on Greenlight so that it gets released on Steam. :)

I have so much fucking money in HM:DS that I don’t know what to do with it.
So I decided to rebuild my farm out of golden lumber.

One day I’ll reach this goal.
